THIS WEEK’S RECIPIENT: THE OLSZYNKA ART THERAPY CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS
The Olszynka Center, just outside Warsaw , Poland, has a really neat apostolate that has been recognizing the gifts of developmentally disabled adults since 2006. Using art therapy, they’re helping people who might not otherwise be able to do so share their artistic talents with whoever takes an interest in them. It’s a beautiful reminder that there is always more going on in the hearts and minds of the least of these than the world might see at first glance.
Unfortunately, the Center had their heating system break down, and as Poland’s harsh Winter approaches, that could mean the cessation of one of the very few social outlets available to these adults who suffer from developmental disabilities.
What makes this #FundingFriday cause extra cool is that depending on the level of your donation, you can actually get a card, poster, or other piece of art created by the artists of Olszynka themselves- a tangible reminder of the gift of being able to give. Plus, the art itself is pretty well done.
The Polish Catholic Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Atlanta is sponsoring Olszynka, but they need our help to push them toward their goal of $3500 to fix their heating system- let’s make this happen! Donate here.
By the way, if they exceed their goal, excess funds will go toward creating an online store where people from around the world can purchase art products made at Olszynka via the internet. Need more reasons to help?
